HOW WE WORK
What began with a request for £25 a month to pay one teacher’s salary, has grown over the years to become a project which pays salaries for school and clinic staff, provides a better standard of nursery education and good community healthcare.
Just over half of the basic monthly running costs are covered by regular donations. The remainder is raised by holding fundraising events and selling Christmas trees, which we grow on a small patch of land in Devon.
Festival Medical Services make a substantial regular contribution to the running of the clinic and the cost of providing school meals.
We work in collaboration with the village. Pa Gibba is our manager there. He is responsible for the day to day running of the project, liaising with committees, managing the school and clinic staff, accounting and reporting to trustees in the UK. |
In addition to the basic needs of the project, there are ongoing maintenance costs and capital projects. Generally we apply for funding for the bigger projects, and have received generous amounts from businesses, foundations and other charities.
We are working to increase the financial independence and sustainability of the project. For example:

Village committees manage the School, the Clinic, the Community Bus and the Beekeeping Project. The is also a Village Development Committee. We work closely with them, responding to ideas and requests when we can. All of the money we raise goes directly to the projects. There are no salaries paid in the UK |
The valuable work we do is core funded by people like you, making regular monthly donations.
